2006 Senior Showcase All-Star Weekend Wows Huge Crowd
The 2006 Senior Showcase All-Star Weekend treated players, coaches, and fans to a weekend full of of excitement. Players and coaches for the event were treated to a Welcome Reception Dinner at the TD Waterhouse Centre and courtside attendance to the Orlando Magic vs. Boston Celtics shoot-around and attended the game. Several of the players were introduced and recognized on the court at half-time of the Magic vs. Celtics game. In addition, Francis Aihe from Winter Park High School was selected to take a 3-point shot to win a round trip vacation to any European city as well as Aaron Holmes from St. Petersburg Catholic and L.D. Williams from Montverede Academy were selected to participate in a human hamburger race contest during one of the time-outs.
Saturday's events were phenomenal including two un-signed All-Star games in the afternoon with a 112-109 overtime Blue All-Star Game. The Adidas 3-Point Shootout was packed full of talented shooters and ended in a triple shoot-off with the winner Chris Irvin from Port Charlotte High School scoring 13 of 15 points in the deciding round. The Ale House Slam Dunk Contest winner L.D. Williams from Montverde Academy amazed the huge crowd by jumping over a ball rack and Jay Love from 102 JAMZ to send everyone into a frenzy.
A sold-out crowd witnessed two unbelievable rosters of talent compete in the Florida East vs. West All-Star Game. The game included exciting action, slam dunks, and a great comeback by the West team which was down 20 points at half-time to win in the final few minutes of the game.

Aaron Holmes Named MVP of 2006 Senior Showcase All-Star Weekend
St. Petersburg Catholic guard Aaron Holmes was named Most Valuable Player for the Florida East vs. West All-Star Game at the 2006 Senior Showcase All-Star Weekend. Holmes impressed the crowd with a variety of skills including four 3-pointers and 18 points overall in the second half leading his West team to a 29-point comeback victory. Holmes also was a finalist in the Adidas 3-Point Shootout. Aaron Holmes will play in the ACC next year by becoming a Seminole at Florida State University. |

Luis Colon Earns Co-MVP Honors at 2006 Senior Showcase All-Star Weekend
6'10" Luis Colon from Dr. Krop High School earns Co-MVP honor during the East vs. West All-Star Game at the 2006 Senior Showcase All-Star Weekend. Colon led the East All-Stars in scoring. Colon also tied the all-time Senior Showcase All-Star Weekend record with 14 rebounds. |
Williams Wins 2006 Ale House Slam Dunk Content
L.D. Williams amazed the crowd during the 2006 Ale House Slam Dunk Contest. Williams eliminated many other high flying contenders and met Dontae Curry in the final round. Dontae, who will be attending the University of South Florida had a dunk attempt over his own mother while L.D. won the contest with dunks jumping over a ball rack and emcee of the event, Jay Love from 102 JAMZ. Next year L.D. Williams will become a Demon Deacon at Wake Forest University. |

Chris Irvin Wins 2006 Adidas 3-Point Shootout
Chris Irvin eliminated 13 other competitors to enter the final round of the Adidas 3-Point Shootout versus Josue Soto. A Championship final round was not enough to declare a winner. The two competitors battled to a triple shoot-off before Chris Irvin made an amazing 13 of 15 points to win the dramatic shootout. Josue Soto will become a Seminole at Florida State University next year while Chris Irvin of Port Charlotte High School is still yet undecided.
